With telescopic aluminium legs and an adjustable hanging chain, this campfire tripod suspends a pot, kettle or Dutch oven safely over an open fire. The legs extend to a maximum height of 120cm and collapse to 53.5cm for carrying, and the hanging chain lets you raise or lower your pot to control the heat. Carry bag included.

Telescopic legs. Each leg extends to the length you need, so the tripod sets up in moments and can be levelled on uneven ground. Packed down, it fits easily in a car boot, the side of a large rucksack or even a canoe barrel.

Adjustable cooking height. The suspended chain sets how far your pot hangs above the flames. Lower it to bring water to the boil quickly, then raise it to simmer a stew without scorching the base.

15kg load rating. There is enough capacity for a filled cast-iron Dutch oven or a large group billy can, making it well suited to basecamp cooking.

It is aimed at bushcraft groups and anyone running a fixed camp who wants a dependable, reusable alternative to lashing a tripod from green wood each time. Always use it where open fires are permitted and with the landowner's consent.

FAQs

How much weight can the Robens Telescopic Aluminium Tripod hold?

Robens rates it to 15kg, which is enough for a filled cast-iron Dutch oven, a large kettle or a group cooking pot.

How do I adjust the cooking height on the Robens Telescopic Aluminium Tripod?

Set the overall height with the telescopic legs, then fine-tune it by shortening or lengthening the hanging chain. A shorter drop brings the pot closer to the heat.

Can an aluminium cooking tripod be used over a campfire?

Yes, provided the legs stay outside the fire and away from the hottest embers. The tripod is designed to stand over the flames, not in them, and the legs will last far longer if they stay clear.

Is the Robens Telescopic Aluminium Tripod light enough for backpacking?

At 980g and 53.5cm packed, it is better suited to car camping, canoe trips and fixed camps than to long-distance backpacking, where a lighter pot hanger or a tripod lashed from local wood makes more sense.
