Pushing pegs in by hand only works on soft ground. The Kombat Rubber Mallet gives you the extra force to drive tent pegs into firm, dry or stony ground, and the rubber head is kinder to pegs than a metal hammer.
When it's time to pack up, use the built-in tent peg extractor to hook stubborn pegs out of the ground, so you don't bend pegs or hurt your fingers pulling them by hand.
A camping mallet with peg extractor
- Rubber head for driving tent pegs
- Built-in tent peg extractor
- Handy size for the car boot or tent bag
- From Kombat UK
Ideal for
Family tents, festival tents and bell tents, pitching awnings on campsites, or setting up a tarp where the ground is hard. It's a simple bit of kit that makes pitching and striking camp quicker.
Tips for using a tent mallet
Drive pegs in at about 45 degrees, leaning away from the tent, so the guyline pulls against the angle. Tap gently at first to start the peg, then strike harder once it's set. Use the extractor to lever pegs straight out rather than twisting them.
Keep it with your pegs in the Highlander Tent Accessory Kit bag. Need new pegs? See the Naturehike V-shaped aluminium pegs and MSR Groundhog stakes. Browse our camping poles and pegs.
