Many ultralight stove systems are not very stable. That’s of course not a big surprise as usually the goal is to use a minimum amount of weight/material. A big advantage of the X-Boil is that it is extremely light and still very stable – which is achieved by simply a very smart design.
Other advantages of the X-Boil system:
- It is efficient because the stainless steel conducts heat 10x less than aluminium and thus less heat is lost.
- It is small in packed size and can easily be transported within the mug/pot you use.
- It takes many types of mugs/pots as long as the distance between the bottom and the lower edge of the handle is at least 18 mm.
Boiling times for the different types of X-Boil Systems is pretty identical (tested in the warehouse at approx. 10° C room temperature, approx. 8° C water temperature and at 500 m above sea level):
0.3 litres require ca. 8 – 11 g of alcohol
0.5 litres require ca. 14 – 16 g of alcohol
1.0 litres require ca. 24 -26 g of alcohol
