The Kombat Military Map Compass is a military-style compass designed for directional map reading. It's marked in millimetres, comes with an olive lanyard and includes full instructions, so it's a good choice if you're learning to navigate.
It's ideal for Duke of Edinburgh expeditions, Army and Air Cadets, Scouts and hill walkers who want a simple compass to use with an OS map.

Learning to use a map and compass
Start by setting your map: line up the map's grid north with the compass needle so the map matches the ground around you. Then practise taking a bearing between two points on the map and walking it. Short practice walks on familiar ground build confidence before you head into the hills.
