The X-Boil is a lightweight alcohol stove system for hikers and solo campers who want to keep kit weight down. It burns methylated spirits (denatured alcohol) and packs small.

Unlike many ultralight burners that tip easily, the X-Boil pairs the burner with a matching windscreen/pot stand and titanium pot hooks for a more stable setup. Choose the model size that fits your pot from the options on this page.

Key points

  • Alcohol (methylated spirits) fuel — no gas canister needed
  • Windscreen / pot stand and titanium hooks included with system kits
  • Several compact and ultralight options — see variants above

FAQs

What fuel does the X-Boil use?

Methylated spirits (denatured alcohol). It does not use gas canisters. Carry fuel in a suitable bottle and never refill a hot burner.

Is it stable enough for a backpacking pot?

The system kits include a windscreen that also acts as a pot stand, plus titanium pot hooks, which give a more stable setup than a bare burner disc alone. Match the model size to your pot diameter.

How light is the X-Boil?

Ultralight versions are typically in the 40–50 g range for the burner system without the fuel bottle, depending on the exact model. Check the variant details for the weight of the option you choose.
