Camping Essentials

Here are our recommendations that you should pack for your next expedition:

Toothbrush

A toothbrush is often the first item you pack, so  why not make sure you have a good one? We like the folding toothbrushes from BCB!

Wet Wipes

Wet wipes are a 'camping hygiene' essential for keeping yourself clean when water is limited. Use them to wipe away any dirt or sweat and keep your skin feeling refreshed.

Dry Shampoo

Dry shampoo is best for when a shower just isn’t possible. A little dry shampoo can help to keep your hair feeling fresh and clean.

Sunscreen

It’s important to protect your skin from the sun, especially if you are spending a lot of time outdoors. Choose a natural sunscreen for the best protection.

Insect Repellent

Keep the bugs at bay with a natural insect repellent. We like the Care Plus range of repellents that includes sprays and gels that are easy to apply.

Mosquito Nets

If you are really worried about being bitten by insects, then a mosquito net is a good option. It will also keep other flying pests away from your face while you sleep.

First Aid Kit

No matter where you are going or how long you will be away, it’s always a good idea to take a first-aid kit with you. Make sure you include any personal items such as medication and allergies treatments.

FAQs

How do you maintain hygiene while camping?

There are a few ways to maintain hygiene while camping, and bringing along the right items is key to keeping clean and fresh. Toothpaste, a toothbrush and soap are essential for keeping your mouth clean, while wet wipes and dry shampoo can help your whole body feel refreshed.

How do you wash when wild camping?

If you are wild camping, then you will need to find a water source to wash in. A stream or river is ideal, but you can also collect rainwater to use. Be sure to soap up well away from the water source so you don’t contaminate it.

Why is personal and campsite hygiene important?

Personal hygiene is important to prevent the spread of germs and illness, while campsite hygiene helps to keep everyone safe and comfortable. Be sure to wash your hands regularly, and clean up any messes you make. A tidy camper is a respected camper!

How do you not smell when camping?

There are a few ways to avoid smelling when camping. First, be sure to wash regularly with soap and water. Second, choose natural personal care products that won’t add any extra scent to your body. Finally, pack some dry shampoo to help absorb any sweat and oil.
