A Tyvek bivvy bag is one of the cheapest and lightest ways to protect your sleeping bag. This 3F UL Gear bivvy slips over your mummy bag or quilt to keep off tent condensation, dirt and splashes, and it adds a bit of warmth by trapping a layer of air.

Tyvek is light, breathable and water resistant. It's ideal inside a tent or under a tarp. In heavy rain without a shelter, you'll want a more heavy-duty bivvy, like the Bushmen Hideout Thermo.

Choose your version

Version Best for Weight Size Packed
No zip (Type A) Quilts 135 g 180 x 145 cm 16 x 8.5 cm
With zip (Type B) Mummy sleeping bags 200 g 230 x 90 cm 16 x 8.5 cm

Each comes with a compression sack. It's white, which makes it easy to spot. Use it inside a lightweight tent like the Lanshan 1, and see all our sleeping bags and 3F UL Gear.

FAQs

Is the Tyvek bivvy waterproof?

It is water resistant and handles condensation and light splashes well. In heavy rain, use it inside a tent or under a tarp, or choose a heavy-duty bivvy.

Should I choose the zip or no-zip version?

The zipped Type B suits mummy sleeping bags and is easier to get in and out of. The no-zip Type A is lighter at 135g and suits quilts.

Will it make my sleeping bag warmer?

A little. It traps a layer of air and blocks draughts, which adds some warmth, and it keeps your bag dry so its insulation works properly.
