This kit has everything you need to boil water and cook a meal over a small wood fire. It's built around the 1.2-litre stainless steel Scout kettle, which boils about four cups at a time on a handful of twigs, pine cones or dry grass.
You light a small fire in the base and sit the kettle on top. The hollow water jacket works like a chimney, so the water heats quickly, even in wind and rain. While it boils, you can cook on the pot support above the chimney. Once the water's done, swap the kettle for the hobo stove and carry on cooking.
